Hey everybody

What do you guys think is the best FPS for the Wii right now (at launch) Far Cry, Call of Duty 3, Red Steel, what? I'm getting LoZ TP when I get a Wii without a doubt. Also anyone played Rayman Raving Rabbids? Is it worth it?

In my opinion, they are all letdowns, and you should just hold off till Metroid.

Nintendo will probably have to define the controls for each genre....

Then the others will get it and make them good.

I have Red Steel and I like it. I haven't played the others.
Currently playing:
Wii: Majora's Mask and Boulderdash (both VC)
Nintendo DS/Gameboy: Final Fantasy 2 (Dawn of Souls)
PC: Diablo II

I have Red Steel and CoD3 and So far I'm liking Red Steel over CoD. And this is coming from someone whose been playing mostly WWII FPS (for the PC) since High School so if anything I started out with a bias in favor of CoD.

They aren't letdowns. Don't hold off till Metroid. The controls for Red Steel are fine after about 10 minutes of getting used to them.

Best one I've played so far has been the simple one in Monkey Ball, Monkey Wars(only 3 stages and 4 player/bot deathmatch, but strangely they actually included vehicles), though I haven't played either Red Steel or CoD3 yet.(and probably won't any time soon, since FPS isn't my favorite genre by any means)

Oh, and yes Rayman is fun.

I'm not going to be satisfied with the controls until a mouse-keyboard configuration comes about.

It's not that hard to program something that has been around for years....

can anyone else comment on this thread? i'm also after a fps at launch here in the UK.

my options are:
call of duty 3
red steel
far cry

the ratings from a number of sources seem to be in favour of COD3 at the moment but i do like the look of red steel.

does the red steel multiplayer add much value to the game?

does anyone have both titles that could list the pros and cons of each and maybe give an indication as to which is the better one to put the money on?

cheers!

Well if you have a friend or somone who is into FPS, multi will add an element.

Pros of Red Steel

-Pretty good atmosphere, graphics are good besides character

Cons of Red Steel

-You move slowly in a fast paced game, controlls have a tough learning curve. The controlls sometimes randomy screw up.

I haven't played CoD3 so I can't comment.

I'm under the impression that Far Cry Vengeance is a good shooter. At least that's what I read from a couple editors on websites who tested it. What's the release date, December 5?

I have both Red Steel and CoD3. I really thought RS would control the way CoD does. They are both very good games and I think CoD is a little better on the control front but RS is just fast pass crazy fun. I think they are both work purchase. But if I was looking for a good old school FPS with tight controls get CoD3 and play with the options.

i've read that some people are having problems with an aiming glitch in red steel where the cursor jumps, seen here:

http://www.youtube.c...h?v=U6meKs3uiGc

is anyone else experiencing this or is it only in certain situations?

i've also read that turning off the wii remote rumble and speaker solves this problem. is this true?

anybody there?.....

wii's out in the uk tommorrow and i still can't decide.

are the graphics on cod3 really bad? worse than the xbox? from the videos the atmosphere and immersion in the game seems amazing, is this really the case? is the game really short with no replay value? i'm not interested in comparisons to the 360 or ps3 versions since i don't plan on getting them.

how glitchy is red steel? does it ruin the experience? the jumpy cursor is apparently solved by turning the wii remote sound off, is this true? do you miss the sound from it? the turning looks a bit sluggish, how bad is it?

those that have both titles which do you recommend? the sites seem to rate cod3 higher, do you agree? (i don't really care about the multiplayer)

thanks!

I have had not had that cursor problem in about 8 hours of gameplay. I'd rate it overall a 7.3. It's sad because it had so much potential. If they polished the characters a bit better, and fixed a couple of controlls (especially with the nunchuck, it takes me like 5 times to throw a gernade).

The turning is easily the worst part, I mean especially when you have enemies all around you. You turn/aim slow in a fast paced shooter.

The sword fights are kinda repetitive, and sorta stop the mood of the game for me.

The character visuals are pretty horrible. Lip synching is real bad, the actuall enviorments though are pretty nice.

I'd rent it for a week, you get about 10 hours of single player campaign. I wish I rented it and got Madden to buy.

ELEBITS ELEBITS ELEBITS ELEBITS ELEBITS ELEBITS ELEBITS ELEBITS

Seriously. I didn't realize you were in the UK, but Elebits is a UK launch title. It comes out further along in the west in 2 weeks.

Here's a review of the Japanese version
http://www.gamebrink...ts-reviews.html

This is one of my top few games to get for the Wii. I have Zelda and DBZ, next will be Trauma Center and Elebits then I'm set for the Wii until Wario comes out.

Yeah, if I actually manage to get a Wii, Far Cry Vengeance and Elebits are my two games to get.

I've never had this issue with the cursor jumping around on Red Steel. There is a learning curve for it. There's never been a FPS with controls like this, so it's not going to be natural at first. After you learn it, the gameplay is awesome. Never played CoD.
