Let me just say that the Wii launch has been amazing. This is maybe the most fun I've had with a new console since like the N64 and Mario. We had 7 heads over by my friends on launch night and everyone was having an amazing time. This is the perfect party console and it truly is revolutionizing video games. I haven't played any games on the 360 that I like as much as I like Wii Sports, Madden Wii and Zelda.

That being said, has anyone else been affected by the controller shortage? At my EB games on launch day, I had one extra controller and nunchuck pre-ordered, and I planned on buying 2 more sets. They didn't have any extras even though I was the first pre-order so the first to buy my console. Last night, I made a journey through retail hell where I went to 6 stores including 2 Best Buys, 2 Targets, Wal-mart and Circuit City. One of the Best Buys had 4 Wiimotes left so I picked up two of them, but they didn't have any nunchucks. None of the other stores had anything. This really is pretty unacceptable to me. I know consoles are going to have shortages at launch, but controllers aren't something you shouldn't have to work to find. They're the way that one person is able to sell a console to another person. I want my friends who don't have the Wii to come over, play Wii Madden in the multiplayer minigames, then leave knowing they need to buy a system with the best Madden experience in years.

Has anyone had any luck looking for controllers? I'm thinking of going to a few non traditional stores tonight like possibly Sears or Costco. Maybe calling a bunch of places. A couple places told me Wednesday or Friday is when they might be getting more, but no one seemed sure. It's just really annoying because I really want to have this before Thanksgiving when I don't have to work and a bunch of friends can stop by and get in on the fun. If anyone has had any similar experiences, let me know about them.

I couldn't find any in stores either...stores generally seem to get new shipments of stuff on Tuesdays (around here, atleast), but since I won't need the nunchuks until the weekend, I just ordered them off Nintendo's store last night...just checked on my order status, and while it doesn't say out of stock, it says my order is backordered, so I guess I'm going to Game Crazy tomorrow after all <_<

Its because everyone is buying 3 extra controllers for Wii sports. Thats why I will be searching for a controller soon. Everyone in front of me bought up the controllers.

Based on the evidence I have seen, I think it's likely that dinosaurs were created about the same time as all other life (whenever that was, I make no pretension of knowing). They probably coexisted with humans.

i'm having the same problem and i work at a target...my managers wouldn't let me put anything on hold for myself until all the customers had gotten their accessories...so within 5 minutes of opening all the classics were gone but we had tons of wii-motes and nunchucks left...by 10 all the nunchucks were gone..luckily i called on my break and pretended to be a customer and had a wii-mote put on hold for me...but honestly can anyone explain how the nunchucks are all sold out before the wii-motes? it makes no sense at all

Yeah, same problem. The Target and Best Buy next to my Gamestop were both out as well. Gamestop guy said they would be receiving more on Wednesday. Stopped by the Target downtown MPLS and they had several left, so I was able to pick one up this morning.

Am I the only one who sees this as a good thing? It means Nintendo's theory of making multiplayer more important has succeeded.
Also, it proves that those who were *****ing about the $40 and $20 price tags eventually gave in anyway.

I'm glad the Wii is selling out all over the place. It's well on it's way to becoming the dominant console of this generation. But the fact of the matter is controller shortages shouldn't be happening. Console shortages happen because it takes a long time to make the parts. It isn't the same for controllers. So you have situations where people see how much fun it is, everyone is excited for it, and you have people that want to buy 1 - 3 extra controller sets so their friends can come by and partake in the excitement, yet they can't do it. Right now the Wii is riding waves of hype and everyone wants to experience it, but many people are only left with one controller set. By the time people are able to fully stock their controllers, the hype may die down a little bit and people may not be as anxious to try it. This week especially is very important for the Wii and multiplayer gaming. With the Thanksgiving weekend, a lot of people don't have work or school Thursday and Friday. Friends will definitely be heading over to their friend's houses to experience the Wii. Families will gather and people can show off the Wii to their non-gamer family members. If someone only has one controller set, it makes it difficult to convey the true experience of the Wii.

Anyway, I've been calling stores around Chicago all day long. I'm having absolutely no luck finding the nunchuck. Even online stores are totally out of them.

I preordered my Wii and an extra controller+nunchuck through a local EBGames. When I picked it up, my extra controller was the last one in stock. The manager said the controllers were going fast but didn't expect there to be a shortage. They'll be continually restocking on a regular basis.

Says who? Says you? Hah!

Controllers can't be made at the rate of 1000 per second; they still take time to manufacture, just exactly the same as the console.

I'm sorry for your predicament, but you're making it sound as if Nintendo chose to not fully stock all the accessories they could.

Think how many Wii consoles they've just sold. And think how many controllers you have per console. 600,000 x 4 = 2.4 million remotes and 2.4 million nunchuks.

Shortages will happen; it doesn't matter what product it is.

i didn't get a Wii yet (target line at 8:00am opening was about 70-80 people, with only 60 systems in stock. i didn't even stop and get out of my car, i just drove right back home), so i went to check out if they had a demo kiosk set up. it ****ed me off that they had a display one in a thick plastic box, but nothing to actually PLAY. they did have about 10 or so copies of Twilight Princess and a few Remotes, and i picked up the package, and i'm like "oh it's so cute!"

(needless to say, they didn't have any Wii in stock, of course)

P.S.

what also ****es me off is ****ing wordfilters.
