Wii Controller Shortage Absolutely killing me...

That being said, has anyone else been affected by the controller shortage? At my EB games on launch day, I had one extra controller and nunchuck pre-ordered, and I planned on buying 2 more sets. They didn't have any extras even though I was the first pre-order so the first to buy my console. Last night, I made a journey through retail hell where I went to 6 stores including 2 Best Buys, 2 Targets, Wal-mart and Circuit City. One of the Best Buys had 4 Wiimotes left so I picked up two of them, but they didn't have any nunchucks. None of the other stores had anything. This really is pretty unacceptable to me. I know consoles are going to have shortages at launch, but controllers aren't something you shouldn't have to work to find. They're the way that one person is able to sell a console to another person. I want my friends who don't have the Wii to come over, play Wii Madden in the multiplayer minigames, then leave knowing they need to buy a system with the best Madden experience in years.
Has anyone had any luck looking for controllers? I'm thinking of going to a few non traditional stores tonight like possibly Sears or Costco. Maybe calling a bunch of places. A couple places told me Wednesday or Friday is when they might be getting more, but no one seemed sure. It's just really annoying because I really want to have this before Thanksgiving when I don't have to work and a bunch of friends can stop by and get in on the fun. If anyone has had any similar experiences, let me know about them.

Also, it proves that those who were *****ing about the $40 and $20 price tags eventually gave in anyway.

I'm glad the Wii is selling out all over the place. It's well on it's way to becoming the dominant console of this generation. But the fact of the matter is controller shortages shouldn't be happening. Console shortages happen because it takes a long time to make the parts. It isn't the same for controllers. So you have situations where people see how much fun it is, everyone is excited for it, and you have people that want to buy 1 - 3 extra controller sets so their friends can come by and partake in the excitement, yet they can't do it. Right now the Wii is riding waves of hype and everyone wants to experience it, but many people are only left with one controller set. By the time people are able to fully stock their controllers, the hype may die down a little bit and people may not be as anxious to try it. This week especially is very important for the Wii and multiplayer gaming. With the Thanksgiving weekend, a lot of people don't have work or school Thursday and Friday. Friends will definitely be heading over to their friend's houses to experience the Wii. Families will gather and people can show off the Wii to their non-gamer family members. If someone only has one controller set, it makes it difficult to convey the true experience of the Wii.
Anyway, I've been calling stores around Chicago all day long. I'm having absolutely no luck finding the nunchuck. Even online stores are totally out of them.

Says who? Says you? Hah!
Controllers can't be made at the rate of 1000 per second; they still take time to manufacture, just exactly the same as the console.
I'm sorry for your predicament, but you're making it sound as if Nintendo chose to not fully stock all the accessories they could.
Think how many Wii consoles they've just sold. And think how many controllers you have per console. 600,000 x 4 = 2.4 million remotes and 2.4 million nunchuks.
Shortages will happen; it doesn't matter what product it is.
